Set objective metrics of success or failure

Do you you want your people to be more motivated and happier?

Clearly articulate the objective criteria that will distinguish between success and failure. Ideally, these metrics should be quantifiable, but at a minimum, they should be objectively discrete and clearly defined.Political success means that a project might be positioned to appear Many organizations blur the line, mistaking what might be called a “politicized success” for some objective discrete event that signals success, like that very moment when a hot air balloon lifts off from the Earth’s surface.successful to those who do not know the facts, and this may happen even though the project itself is actually an abject failure.

In some organizations, political positioning is the only type of success that really matters. Needless to say, these are also organizations that eventually fail.
