Set Direction & Generate Options

To survive over the long term, organizations must not only perform effectively, they must also adapt.  This means that ways of doing things - even the things that are being done - might need to change to accommodate predictable events in the future.

Unfortunately, in the early stages of adaptation, what those “predictable events” might be remains uncertain. To prepare for an uncertain future, leadership activities are expressed that serve to generate real options for the organization that might be valuable in the future.
